William was born in Liberty, New York to parents who were professional musicians. He is a member of Actors' Equity and joined the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators in 2016. His unpublished books include Party Animal, Meet Lincoln and Loo Loo and The Penguin Who Wanted to Fly. He is currently at work on a musical adaptation of a 1956 television play, The Genie of Sutton Place.
